It is against this background that they are ideally suited and properly qualified to train professional chefs for entry into the industry, including: hotels, restaurants, cruise ships, food product developers and as food stylists.
It is rare for students to be trained hands on, every day, by five star hotel chefs, and since the school opened in 2004, they have constantly produced winners in all the major cooking competitions in South Africa and even abroad, with one student winning the prestigious San Pellagrino Young Chef of the Year 2009. Graduates have already won the Sunday Times Junior, and Senior Chef of the Year competitions.
Henrico Grobelaar, the 2010 captain of Team SA has this to say:
“Paul Hartmann and Garth Stroebel are like walking dictionary’s! They taught me the fundamental principles which I still take to the kitchen every day”.
